ARCHDALE, NC (August 20, 2007)- Earl Pearson Jr. the two time and defending Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Champion picked up his fifth win in 2007 on the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series winning the sanctioned event Friday August 17th at Kankakee Motor Speedway in Kankakee IL. Earl driving the Bobby Labonte Racing Mastersbilt Chassis powered by a Larry Wallace Engine started 13th in the 50-lap $10,000 to win feature event. Earl would quickly move to the front and into the top three by lap 20. Earl would use the bottom line around the ¼ mile bull ring to take the lead on lap 35 and lead the final 15 laps while holding off Scott James and Mike Marlar to earn the victory.
"That was a great race at Kankakee. I have to give my crew credit for giving me a great car and making the right choice on tires to get us to the front. We had a really good car all night and should have been starting up front but we broke a rotor leading the heat race which caused me to finish 4th. Hopefully we can keep our luck going and continue to add points to our lead for the championship", stated Earl.
The Bobby Labonte Racing Team also competed in the "Jackson 100" at Brownstown Speedway in Indiana over the weekend. Earl would win his heat race to earn a fifth place starting position for the 100-lap $15,000 to win sanctioned event. Earl would maintain his position but the track took rubber early in the event which made the track extremely hard to pass on. Earl would finish 6th in the final run down and padded his points lead to 155 points over Scott James with 7 races left on the 2007 schedule.
Earl and the team will compete in the "Scorcher 100" on Wednesday and Thursday August 22-23rd for a 100-lap $20,000 to win World of Outlaws Late Model Series sanctioned event. From there Earl will travel to Bluegrass Speedway in Kentucky for a 50-lap $10,000 to win Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series sanctioned event on Saturday August 25th.
