ARCHDALE, NC (August1, 2007)- Earl Pearson Jr. the 2006 World 100 Champion, and the Bobby Labonte Racing Team won another special event at the famous Eldora Speedway last weekend. Earl entered the World of Outlaws Late Model Dirt Series sanctioned event at Eldora Speedway in Rossburg Ohio on July 27th and again found victory lane at the prestigious venue in a hard fought battle with Shannon Babb on the final lap. Earl started 9th in the 50-lap feature event and had worked into the top 5 by the halfway mark. Earl benefited from attrition as Josh Richards fell out of third place with mechanical problems and with 10 laps to go Tony Stewart and Chub Frank crashed racing for the lead. Earl inherited the lead but the last lap would be a replay of the 2006 World 100 as Shannon Babb passed Earl on the final lap going into turn three. Earl used the low line off of turn four to power back by Babb and beat him to the finish line to earn the $10,000 first place prize money and another victory at the famous speed plant.
“That was a heck of a race. I felt like I had about a third place car until Stewart and Chub wrecked. Then I realized I had a shot to win it and then Babb does a slider on me on the last lap but he gave me room and we got back by him to win it. It feels great to get another win here at Eldora. Its always fun to race with Shannon Babb. He’s getting tired of running second to me here at Eldora though I’m sure. He’s a class act and we got to hang out with him at his shop in Illinois a couple days after Eldora on our way to Wisconsin. Hopefully we get to race each other for the win again at this years World 100”, stated Earl. The World of Outlaws sanctioned event that Earl won on July 27th was taped for broadcast on the SPEED Channel on August 19th.
